Potential Spoiler: I liked the cross-over aspect with MHI Memoirs which I hadn’t appreciated before. I like how he switches to female characters so well though. His deep growl always reminds me of movie trailer voiceovers “In a world” if you know what I mean. I guess I will just have to have patience and I assume it will come in time (and not be a switched perspective book - unless told from Stricken’s POV which could be interesting). ![]() Disappointing, especially with no book 9 on the horizon, as far as I can see. It just gets to a point and leaves you hanging. The only downside is, unlike all the other books, this one doesn’t have a satisfactory ending. The usual overdose of machismo, toxic masculinity and gun porn but still funny, exciting and imaginative with great characters. Fortunately, this was a wonderful return to form. I had not really enjoyed book 7 very much (surprising as I usually enjoy the switch of narrator books) maybe because I felt the female perspective wasn’t very authentic. For as dangerous as the chaos god is, there is something much older - and infinitely more evil - awakening deep in the jungles of South America.Īt the publisher’s request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management).īook 8 in the series. It's a race against time, the Secret Guard, a spectral bounty hunter, and a whole bunch of monsters to acquire the Ward Stone and use it against Asag. ![]() Monster Hunter International is the premier eradication company in the business. On the other side are the people who kill monsters for a living. Officially secret, some of them are evil, and some are just hungry. But before the stone can be handed off, it is stolen by a mysterious thief with ties to MHI and the Vatican's Secret Guard. All the things from myth, legend, and B-movies are out there, waiting in the shadows. When Owen and the MHI team discover that one of Isaac Newton's Ward Stones is being auctioned off by Reptoids who live deep beneath Atlanta, they decide to steal the magical superweapon and use it to destroy Asag once and for all. The chaos god Asag has been quiet since the destruction of the City of Monsters, but Monster Hunter International know that he is still out there, somewhere - plotting, waiting for his chance to unravel reality. I once had a bunch of people convinced that they’d just started filming the MHI movie starring Robert Pattinson as Owen and Janene Garafolo as Julie (with Alec Baldwin as the voice of Skippy). In a business like monster hunting, it's all about setting priorities. When I prank my fans I reach for the stars. This one is already pretty far along already, and will be the next book in the production line for me once I finish the trench fantasy collaboration with Steve Diamond.ĮDIT: and I just realized what today’s date is, so probably not the best time to announce new projects, but these are actually legit. Many of you are already familiar with Jason’s work, but if you’re not, he is really good. It takes place in California in the 1970s. This next one is called Monster Hunter Memoirs: Fever, by me and Jason Cordova. ![]() In the last update I mentioned that there will be more Monster Hunter Memoirs novels, in the style started by John Ringo, but featuring different hunters in different time periods away from the mainline series, where I’ll collaborate with a different author. ![]() Noir Fatale did really well, so I’m excited for this opportunity to do more in this genre. Kacey is awesome, and I loved working with her last time. I’ll announce the authors once that is totally pinned down, but we’ve got some great and talented authors lined up for these. The third volume the theme is the city, and it’s called Down These Mean Streets. This next one is called No Game for Gentlemen, and the theme is detectives. The first one the theme was femme fatales. Up first, there will be two more volumes of noir sci-fi/fantasy anthologies like Noir Fatale, and I’ll be editing them along with Kacey Ezell again. I mentioned these in the last update, but couldn’t elaborate because contracts were still in the mail, but I’ve got three new projects on the way.
